Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow, along with co-star Paul Bettany, visited The Ellen DeGeneres Show today to promote Mortdecai, and even played the “Never Have I Ever” game: really, really funny stuff!
I think Johnny & Gwyneth are so funny together and clearly get along very well: I really hope to see them acting together in more movies!
Enjoy the videos!

In “Tusk,” Justin Long plays a podcaster named Wally who travels around the country to interview colorful characters for a radio show called The Not-See Party. He describes these encounters to his best friend and co-host (Haley Joel Osment), who then has to decide whether or not the stories are real or wholly made up. After traveling to Canada to meet a minor Internet celebrity who gained fame for accidentally chopping off his own leg with a samurai sword (a nod to Smith’s pal and fellow indie trailblazer Quentin Tarantino), who has unknowingly taken his own life in the interim, Wally finds himself in desperate need of a story and finds one when he gazes upon a strange personal ad placed by an old sailor (Michael Parks) looking for someone to spend time in his creaky old mansion. Wally goes to visit the old timer and winds up with a whole lot more than he bargained for. We’re not trying to be cagey; the less you know about the plot specifics, the better the WTF-worthy payoff is.[…]
The movie, too, takes on a wildly different tone when, around the third act, a wholly unrecognizable Johnny Depp is introduced as a gonzo French-Canadian detective named Guy LaPointe, who teams up with Wally’s co-host and girlfriend (Genesis Rodriguez) to track him down. With Depp’s entrance, what had been a relatively straightforward horror film is turned on its head. It’s undoubtedly the best, most off-the-wall performance Depp has given in ages, the kind of actorly feat that is so out there that it borders on the hypnotic. Depp, with little more than some well-placed prosthetics and a goofy French-Canadian accent, makes “Tusk” infinitely weirder.
Throughout “Tusk,” there are characters telling stories. They tell stories to each other, to themselves, to countless listeners over the Internet, and it’s this idea that is at the heart of the film. […] Depp’s character is introduced the same way, with a longwinded monologue that effectively changes the shape of the entire movie.
The movie is funny and scary and odd, and Smith makes a genuine effort to provide scares, going further than you’d ever expect him to in an effort to establish mood and tone. […] “Tusk” is being marketed as a “truly transformative tale,” and by the end of the movie’s briskly paced 102 minutes, you’ll feel that it’s Smith who has been reinvented most of all. He’s using his skill set in a different genre, with a different agenda altogether, combining autobiographical elements, spooky late-night B-movie influences and a deeper thematic exploration of the nature of storytelling, to create something wholly unique and twisted. “Tusk” will be a lot of things to a lot of people (and we expect the reaction to the film to run the gamut from rapturous adoration to repulsed indifference), but at it’s best, “Tusk” is outlandishly unforgettable.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp and Kevin Smith are teaming up for what is being dubbed a “comic book movie,” and they’re bringing their daughters with them.
This week, Smith will start principal photography on Yoga Hosers, an action-adventure movie that will star Depp, his daughter Lily-Rose Depp, and Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith.
The movie is Smith’s follow-up to Tusk, which premieres at the Toronto Film Festival in September, and is the second installment in Smith’s True North trilogy of movies that are steeped in Canadian myths and culture. In fact, the entire cast of Tusk is returning for Hosers, including Michael Parks, Justin Long, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, Ralph Garman and Harley Morenstein. New to the cast are Tony Hale, Natasha Lyonne, Austin Butler, Adam Brody, Tyler Posey and Jason Mewes.
Hosers, written by Smith, centers on 15-year-old yoga nuts Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith), who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Depp) to fight for their lives with, according to the producers, “all seven Chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time.”
Smith, a comic book geek who has written titles for Marvel and DC and who once wrote a Superman movie script, said he considers this his entree into the comic book movie genre. “People always ask me ‘Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?’ ” Smith said. “This is it — but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two 15-year-old girls.”
Said StarStream CEO Kim Leadford: “The timing couldn’t be more perfect as so many production companies are struggling to find content to fill a serious void in the market of female superheroes and antiheroes. And it’s pretty exciting to have their dads making the film with them.”
The first official teaser trailer for Johnny’s upcoming action-comedy crime film, ‘Mortdecai’ has been released by Lionsgate a few days ago, and it looks really fun! A poster for the film, three production stills as well as captures from the trailer have all been added to the gallery. Be sure to check them out! And if you have not already, visit the official site of the film.
Juggling some angry Russians, the British Mi5, his impossibly leggy wife and an international terrorist, debonair art dealer and part time rogue Charlie Mortdecai (Depp) must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
Also starring Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Olivia Munn, Jeff Goldblum and Paul Bettany, Mortdecai is released in cinemas February 6th 2015.
‘Transcendence’ has been released on Blu-ray about a month ago, so today I have added 582 Blu-ray screencaptures of Johnny as Dr. Will Caster to our gallery. I thought it was a great, enjoyable, thought-provoking movie that deserved much more credit than the critics gave it. And what did you think of the movie? Let us know in the comments!
