Welcome to JDW, one of the largest and oldest fansites dedicated to academy award nominated actor Johnny Depp. Johnny Depp is, for sure, one of the lead name in the world's movie industry, recognized for his talent and charisma. Working as an actor since the 80's, he has a dedicated and passionated fanbase around the world. We're here to celebrate Johnny's life and career, and give fans a place to find the latest news regarding Johnny, as so media, images and more.
That atrocious final chapter aside, people love them some Jack Sparrow. (Especially Michael Bolton!) They love the gravely voice, the spacey demeanor, the marionette-like posture. And although each of these elements was birthed by Johnny Depp, in the role that turned him from cult favorite to omnipresent movie star, it seems as though a few people are willing to see them carried out by another Hollywood icon. An equally beloved, perhaps more respected, thespian — Kermit the Frog. With The Muppets… Again! brewing for 2014, some fans of Jim Henson’s felt family were inspired to put together a crossover video between the 1996 picture Muppet treasure Island, and Depp’s ongoing franchise Pirates of the Caribbean.
In the video, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Tim Curry all inhabit (in a rather impressive dub job) the Pirates characters, channeling fandom of both entertaining realms. Check out the parody trailer below.
Actress Holly Robinson Peete got her breakout role when she was cast as Officer Judy Hoffs on the late 80s TV show “21 Jump Street“. That show was also a hit for Johnny Depp. On HuffPost Live Friday, Peete admitted that some flirting did go on between the two, but she said she would never actually date him. Her reason? Her mother.
Johnny Depp might be an uber-famous Hollywood actor, but he isn’t ready to let go of his love of music just yet. Last night, Johnny headed to The Late Show to talk about his upcoming movie “The Lone Ranger” and then took the stage to rock with pal Bill Carter.
First things first, Johnny sat down for a quick chat. In his typical fashion, Johnny was decked out in layers of necklaces, scarves, and his signature hat. He discussed moving to L.A. with his band, the Kids, back in the day and then becoming an actor purely out of the need to pay rent. “You realize at some point you’ll have to deal with the inevitable,” Johnny said. After telling pal Nicholas Cage about his money situation, Depp met up with Cage’s agent and went on his first read: A Nightmare on Elm Street. And the rest is history.
This July, Johnny is starring alongside Armie Hammer in The Lone Ranger, a movie that required a lot of horseback riding, which wasn’t a problem for the Kentucky-born actor… until things “went very sideways.”
Watch Johnny explain his encounter with an equine “death machine,” and than check out his guitar skills on Bill Carter’s song, “Anything Made of Paper” about the West Memphis Three.
A while ago I received a mail which included a link to a video which shows you how to do Johnny’s make-up as the Mad Hatter in “Alice In Wonderland“. Make sure to check out the tutorial. It was made and uploaded by The Creative Stroke. Make sure to check out their other videos as well. Let us know what you think in the comments section!
I’m glad to be sharing something with you that is totally different from the things we actually post on JDW. It has got nothing to do with any updates, rumors etc. but with excellent and brilliant fanart.
On Wednesday I received an e-mail by the very talented, award winning freelance director/editor Jamie Munton. He has always been interested and fascinated with movies and started to make his own films in his early teens. Today he’s 23 years old and just graduated from a Bachelor in Film to work as a film editor in London. (Congratulations!)
This message contained a video that is called “Finding Johnny Depp“. It’s a short movie which developed when Jamie and his friends found out about a rumor that Johnny was living near their university campus in Cornwall. After some accurate research, they set off to see whether the rumors were true. Tthey walked from one location to another to gather more information… Thus “Finding Johnny Depp” was born!
This absolutely awesome film won the Delabole Slate Audience Award at the Cornwall Film Festival in 2010. I’m sure many fans will enjoy this movie, that’s why I decided to share it with you. So, take the time to watch this presentation! By the way, make sure to check out Jamie’s other works on his website. Thanks to Jamie for contacting me.
Finally, the first short teaser trailer for Johnny’s upcoming movie “The Lone Ranger” was released. Check it out and tell us what you think in the comments below! I’m super excited! I also added 17 HQ screen captures to the image archive.
Johnny was the delight of the Comanche Nation fair on Saturday morning when parade watchers realized the famous Hollywood actor was part of the parade. On Saturday morning the entertainer was seen in a black convertible driving his way through the streets in celebration of the special event.
Arriving first in an SUV and then transferring to a convertible, the entertainer wasn’t expected by the locals as people were worried about chaos. Instead, the shock of seeing the star as he rolled down the street had people screaming with delight and stunned to see such a big personality.
Johnny Depp has been doing his part to bridge the Native American community with his characters portrayal in the upcoming The Lone Ranger movie. Respecting the concerns of the Native American community and actively being involved in a fair portrayal of the character, there is a lot to be said about the effort’s Depp has put into the film
Johnny Depp has a close relationship with his nephew Billy Rassel and has even collaborated with him on a music project.
‘We interact just like any other family, but I guess the best way to describe our relationship is that of anyone else who has an uncle that likes to do shit with you that your parents don’t approve of,’ Billy tells Perez Hilton. ‘Almost like brothers.’
Gossip guru Perez Hilton reveals Johnny, 49, does his stuff on Billy’s song Street Runners under the alias Mr Stench. You can find the video in which you can hear his voice below.
Johnny Depp is one of the only guys out there who seems to dispute that whole “jack of all trades, master of none” thing. The actor never makes a misstep, and the guys in Aerosmith agree.
While recording their latest album, “Music From Another Dimension“, Johnny recorded some backup vocals for the guys on the track “Freedom Fighter”. Aerosmith open up about how their collabo came about:
“[Depp] came down [to the studio] with one of his guitars and it got late, and it came time for the background vocals. We asked him if he’d sit around the microphone. He did and that’s how he ended up on the song.” Easy as that, folks. Just be Johnny Depp and the world is your oyster.
