Johnny Depp will replace Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the latest project Heath had been working on. Director Terry Gilliman hand picked Johnny for the role.
But this doesn’t mean we won’t see Heath at all. The studio is saying there’s a part of the movie in which Heath’s character falls through a magic mirror, and they may have Johnny become the new appearance of the changed character.
It’s sad that they already have to be dealing with this so soon after Heath’s death, but it’s great that such an amazing actor as Johnny Depp will be on board.

Johnny got another nomination from Academy Awards, for his Sweeney Todd!
He will dispute with: Daniel Day Lewis, George Clooney, Tommy Lee Jones and Viggo Mortensen.
Congratulations, and go Johnny!
Johnny Depp received his third Academy Award nomination for best actor for his role as the title character in Tim Burton’s gothic musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street,” though no nods went to the film, its director or co-star Helena Bonham-Carter.
The nominees for the 80th Academy Awards were announced Tuesday from Beverly Hills, California, with Johnny Depp seeing his portrayal of the psychotic criminal whom he managed to make endearing to the audiences receive a nomination in the best actor category.
Depp, previously nominated for “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” in 2004 and “Finding Neverland” in 2005, will compete against George Clooney in “Michael Clayton,” Daniel Day-Lewis in “There Will Be Blood,” Tommy Lee Jones in “In the Valley of Elah” and Viggo Mortensen in “Eastern Promises.”
While “Sweeney Todd” was not nominated in the best picture category, the trophy will be fought over between “Michael Clayton,” “There Will Be Blood,” “Atonement,” “Juno” and “No Country for Old Men.”
The organizers of the Academy Awards ceremony have been adamant that the event will take place regardless of the ongoing WGA strike, on the scheduled date of Feb. 24 at Hollywood’s Kodak Theatre.
[Film Guardian] After facing off against Russell Crowe in 3:10 To Yuma and Heath Ledger’s Joker in the upcoming The Dark Knight, Christian Bale is preparing to go head-to-head with Johnny Depp. The pair will star in Michael Mann’s crime thriller Public Enemies. Bale will play FBI agent Melvin Purvis who led the hunt for the 1930s bank robber John Dillinger, to be played by Depp. Filming is expected to begin in March before a possible actors and directors strike on July 1 forces Hollywood film production to grind to a halt.
ITN – Hundreds of screaming fans waited for hours at Narita airport near Tokyo to catch a glimpse of the Pirates of the Caribbean star.
Depp plays a serial-killing barber in a grim story of revenge set on the grimy streets of 19th Century London.
The movie sees Depp team up with director Tim Burton once again for the murderous musical.
The pair have worked on several films together including 1990′s Edward Scissorhands and more recently on a remake of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
The film also stars Burton’s other long-time collaborator and real-life fiancée Helena Bonham-Carter, who gave birth to the couple’s second son last December.
Last December 5, Johnny attented a special screening of Sweeney Todd at Paramount Theaters, in Los Angeles. He was awesome and incredible sexy – as always, of course – and I added 148 pictures from this event.
Also, Johnny is on the January issue of US Esquire, and I added the scans to the gallery. The pictures used are SO amazing, totally beautiful!
I added 121 pictures from Johnny at NY Sweeney’s Premiere last night. He was SO SO SO fucking gorgeous in black & red, with a particular shoe. Johnny got style, man!
Johnny Depp’s latest role in the blood-filled ‘Sweeney Todd’ screams ‘Oscar’ and rightfully so, it’s a fantastic movie but surely Depp has had his fill of fake blood? Apparently not as the star is rumoured to be teaming up with producer-director Michael Mann for a film based on the ‘Depression-era crime wave’.
Director Mann has been looking to create a screen adaptation of the nonfiction book “Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34” by Brian Burrough’s for a while now, with Leonardo DiCaprio previously attached. Now DiCaprio is off on Shutter Island for Scorsese, it seems that Depp is standing up to the plate. Read more… »
It’s 19th century London and everyone is singing, but when arterial blood sprays from the opened throat of Signor Adolfo Pirelli, you know this is no “My Fair Lady”.
Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street”, a savage tale of cannibalism, madness and serial murder, is now Tim Burton’s “Sweeney Todd”. The show couldn’t have fallen into better hands. With realistic gore replacing the stylistic bloodletting in the stage version, “Sweeney” loses some of its darkly comic tone — not a lot of laughs here except the nervous kind. Read more… »

I was busted. Set up by the FBI and the DEA. That didn’t bother me. Set up by Kevin Dulli and Derek Forreal to save their own asses. That didn’t bother me. Sentenced to 60 years at Ottisville. That didn’t bother me. I’d broken a promise. Everything I love in my life goes away. — George Jung
