The BBC reports that the “Pirates of the Caribbean” sequels plan to portray Dominica’s Carib Indians as cannibals. Shooting on the films is expected to take place this April in the area, with hundreds of Dominicans applying to be extras in the movie.
Carib Chief Charles Williams said talks with Disney’s producers revealed there was “a strong element of cannibalism in the script which cannot be removed”.
The Caribs have long denied their ancestors practiced cannibalism. “Our ancestors stood up against early European conquerors and because they stood up…we were labelled savages and cannibals up to today,” said Williams.
About 3,000 Caribs live on the island of Dominica.
Hey guys! I’m slow, I know! But, I did manage to add some goodies to the gallery today: Misc. photoshoot #52 (thanks Mariana!), Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Promotional Pictures, 2005 Golden Globes (thanks, again, to Mariana), 2005 SAG (thanks Roberta), Rolling Stone February 2005 (finally, I know!!)
I have more things to add, tons of emails to reply (probably still have stuff from november or so, I suck replying e-mails!) but I decided to re-organize the gallery and install a new script before I add everything I have new.
Unfortunatelly, Johnny didn’t win I’ve posted a couple of pictures from the red carpet:
Johnny is nominated for best Actor in this year’s Academy Awards!! He has to win this year!
Mariana has sent scans of the next Premiere magazine:
The Corpse Bride Trailer is up. Click here to check it out! It’s hilarious, I can’t wait to see it!
As you guys might know already, Johnny didn’t win the Golden Globe last sunday. Oh well. I still think he is the best and I know most of you do the same and that has got to count for something right?
I will post pictures tomorrow!
I found this sweet article from timesonline.co.uk
PIRATES OF the Caribbean star Johnny Depp lives in a farmhouse “near St Tropez” with Vanessa Paradis and their two children.
“I was very lucky that something steered me to France. I came here in 1998 and immediately felt at home, really at home. It is still possible to live a simple life in France. You can go to the market, walk about, and buy your fruit and vegetables from the locals — just as they did here 100 and 200 years ago.
“I can walk to a tiny village from my home, sit in a cafe, smoke a cigarette with my coffee and be left alone. That’s what I enjoy — the cafe and, of course, the culture. We have moments when our kids are playing, and we look at one another and think, ‘Thank God we escaped.’ And I add, ‘Thank God for France.’ It doesn’t get any better than this.”
Johnny Depp wants to dress up as a woman and star in cult British TV comedy ‘Little Britain’.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor has asked for a guest spot on the hit show and its creators, David Walliams and Matt Lucas, say they are working frantically to make his dream a reality.
Lucas revealed: “We’re looking into it. It would be great if Johnny could appear.”
The Hollywood heartthrob has even created a role for himself and reportedly wants to play a friend to Walliams’ character Emily – a transvestite dressed in a turn-of-the-century ladies’ dress.
A source added: “Johnny would love to appear in the show. His favourite character is Emily and he’s hinted that he’d love to play one of her friends. He’s made it clear he’d even dress in drag.”
Meanwhile, Depp has revealed he based his sinister Willy Wonka character in forthcoming movie ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ on rocker Marilyn Manson.
The star reportedly says he wanted to give the flamboyant factory owner a darker edge and thought Manson was the perfect muse.
A source said: “He has his music and pictures in his trailer to help get in character. He’s making Willy far more sinister than before and there’s a little of Marilyn in there.”
